The 2017 South Australian Aboriginal Golf Championship was held at the North Adelaide Golf Course over 18 holes on Friday 7 April.

36 Aboriginal amateur golfers participated on the day with those who are members of Clubs affiliated with GOLF SA and who hold a current Golf Australia handicap eligible for the Championship.

A 9 and 18 hole participation event was also held for the casual golfer which also incorporated junior players.

In the Men’s Championship Stephen Alexander off a handicap of 7 from Highercombe Golf Club took out the title with a gross score of 84, while Senior Men’s Champion and runner up one shot adrift was Colin Andy (handicap 10) who fired a round of 85.

Division 2 Men’s Champion (GA Handicap range 19-36) was Andrew Head (handicap of 20) from Echunga GC with a gross score 101.

Nerida Saunders from North Adelaide Golf (Handicap 23) claimed the Ladies Championship (her fifth title) with a round of 109 one stroke ahead of Glennis Warrior (Handicap 23) from Kapunda GC.

All players had a great time and much of that credit goes to the sponsors and organisers of the event including the Office for Sport and Recreation and the Adelaide City Council.
