The Men's Lake Macquarie Amateur is an Australian Men's Ranking and World Amateur Golf Ranking Event. It is for players of any age, and is played over 72-holes stroke play. It was first played in 1958, and past winners include Geoff Ogilvy in 1997 and Marc Leishman in 2005. Phil Billings has won the event on the most number of ocassions, having won it seven times. It is conducted by Belmont Golf Club and Golf NSW.

Entries are now open for the 2012 Lake Macquarie Internantional Amateur Pre-Qualifying event being held Wednesday 25 January at Belmont Golf Club.

(d) The leading 10 players from the NSW Vardon Averages as at 1 November 2011 (who have completed a minimum of 15
rounds)
(e) The top 50 players, plus ties, after 4 rounds of the 2010 Greater Building Society Lake Macquarie International
Amateur Championship
(f) Winner of 2011 Autumn Record, W.E. Alexander Open or Newcastle District Championship
(g) The leading 3 players in the Newcastle District Vardon as at 1 November 2011
(h) The leading 200 players from the 2011 Official World Amateur Golf Rankings (R&A or Scratch Players) at time of entry
(i) International competitors on an equivalent GA Handicap of scratch or better, or otherwise invited by Belmont GC
(j) The current Belmont Golf Club Champion, Junior Champion or best placed in 2011 Belmont Junior Classic
(k) Previous winners of Greater Building Society Lake Macquarie International Amateur Championship
(l) Current NSW Country Champion, NSW Medallist or NSW Amateur Champion
(m) Previous Australian Amateur and NSW Amateur Champions
(n) Players who qualified or were exempt for the 2012 Master of the Amateurs
